Vels Medical College and Hospital Recognized for Outstanding Contribution to TB Elimination

Vels Medical College and Hospital has been commended for its exemplary efforts in combating tuberculosis (TB) through its active participation in the Nikshaya Mitra scheme (Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan - PMTBMABA).

The hospital's commitment to eliminating TB has been lauded as part of a broader initiative aimed at achieving a TB-free India.In recognition of this significant contribution, the Thiruvallur District Collector, Dr. T. Prabhushankar I.A.S, presented an appreciation award to Vels Medical College and Hospital in a ceremony held today(05/09/24) @Thiruvallur Collector Office .

The event took place in the presence of the Deputy Director for TB, the Dean of Tiruvallur Medical College, and the Joint Director for Health of Thiruvallur District and other government officials

Representing Vels Medical College and Hospital at the ceremony, the institution’s Dean, Dr. Kumudha Lingaraj, and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Sheela Rani, graciously received the award from the District Collector.

The hospital’s involvement in the Nikshaya Mitra scheme has been instrumental in supporting patients affected by TB, providing both medical and nutritional aid, and playing a crucial role in improving treatment outcomes across the district.
