On June 19, 2024, to mark World Hypertension Day, the students and staff of VELS Medical College and Hospital (VMCH) participated in a hypertension awareness pledge. The event aimed to raise awareness about hypertension, encourage preventive measures, and reinforce the commitment of the VMCH community to combating hypertension through education and action.

The event began with an opening speech by Dr. Kumudha Lingaraj, Dean, VMCH, emphasizing the importance of hypertension awareness and the role of the medical community in leading by example.

Nearly 200 students and over 50 staff members gathered in the hospital block, creating a unified effort towards hypertension prevention and management. The pledge included commitments to regular BP monitoring, adopting a healthy diet, engaging in physical activity, avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol, and spreading awareness about hypertension.
