The reservation category students belonging to SC/ST and Minority communities shall approach for scholarships provided from District Adi Dravida Tribal Welfare Department and District Backward Classes & Minority Welfare Department.The necessary information to be furnished in the Application Form and the same shall be forwarded by the College to the above authorities on request. The same procedure shall apply for students seeking educational loan from Nationalized Banks.
After successful completion of the course our College offers job placement in our VELS General Hospital and other well established Hospitals on a regular basis.
Student Nurses Association (SNA)
The College has an active SNA unit with State and National membership. The students participate in conferences at State and National level.
Functions of SNA
The Executive & General Body Meeting is arranged once in three months. Dean, SNA Advisors and SNA Office Bearers discuss about the upcoming events and solve the issues related to students. The SNA Body organizes cultural programs with the students inside and outside campus for various functions and events.
Students are provided with teacher guardian, who meets each student individually and help them to cope with their academic, personal and interpersonal issues.
Anti-Ragging Committee
We at SRM strongly condemn any kind of ragging practices. We have Anti-Ragging Committee which is headed by the senior faculty. Our faculty members impart good values with education.
Youth Red Cross (YRC)
The Youth Red Cross Unit of VELS College of Nursing organizes and participates in the Blood donation camp, Polio camp, Health camp etc.
National Service Scheme (NSS)
The NSS Unit of VELS College of Nursing coordinates with NSS unit of SRM Institute of Science and Technology to organize & participate in various camps.
Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)
VELS College of Nursing organizes various Departmental CNE programmes on regular basis. The College organizes National conferences on topics in thrust areas. The management also depute faculty for National and International training in Research. The management strongly feels that their faculty needs to update with current knowledge. Hence, the management sponsors faculty to attend International, National and Regional conferences, Workshops and Seminars.
They support the Institution in conducting Journal Club. A member from faculty is appointed as a journal club secretary who ensures that every department in turn makes a presentation on the newer trends in their specialty. Also, the faculty who attend conferences/workshops, disseminate the information gained to the other faculty members.
Alumni Association
An active alumni association exists in the college. The membership is open to all graduates of VELS College of Nursing. The activities planned are Alumni reunions, and linking through Social Network, Website and e-Mails.
Medical Benefits
Free annual medical check-ups are availed by the students. Faculty and students avail concessions for both Out -Patient and In-Patient medical services from VELS Multi-Specialty Hospital.
